nano amt launch

WHEN: May 19, 2015

HOW MUCH: Rs 1.5 - 2.5 lakh

ENGINE: 624 cc, twin-cylinder petrol, AMT gearbox

COMPETITION: Maruti Alto 800, Maruti Alto K10 AMT, Datsun GO, Hyundai EON

Tata Motors will launch the revised and updated GenX Nano with a hatchback, AMT gearbox and lots of other convenient features on May 19 in Mumbai. This Nano isn't all-new though; it is still the same under the skin, with the exception being the addition of an automated manual gearbox and a rear-opening hatch, which makes it a bona fie 5-door car.

Inside, Tata Motors has updated the Nano with a 4-speeaker music system wiith Bluetooth & USB connectivity. There are also front power windors, power steering and air-conditioning. Tata Motors has also listened to customer feedback, increasing the fuel tank capacity from 15 to 24 litres to redice the frequency of trips to the petrol pump.

While there is no word on pricing yet, we expect the top-of-the-line Nano XTA with the AMT gearbox to be priced around the Rs 2.5-lakh mark, which will make it the cheapest car on sale in India with such a transmission.

Tata Nano

WHEN: January 13, 2014

HOW MUCH: Rs 2.35 lakh

ENGINE: 2 cylinder, 624cc petrol motor

Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the Nano Twist at the NCPA in Mumbai on January 13, 2014.

The Tata Nano Twist will be equipped with a power steering and gets subtle updates to the instrument cluster which will sport new fonts and LED gauges for the fuel and temperature readout.

The display will exhibit odometer, time, tripmeter and distance to empty details. At the reae end, the boot of the Nano will sport a Twist moniker on the left and variant badge on the right. Tata has developed an entirely new electric power steering (EPS) system with supplier ZF Friedrichshafen specifically for the Nano.

A new purple body colour scheme will be added to the hue palate. Barring these few updates, the Nano Twist is expected to remain unchanged from the 2013 Tata Nano.

The Tata Nano Twist will be offered in two trim levels – XC and XT, which will slot above the presently existing CX and LX variants. As per our guesstimate, the Nano Twist XC will carry a premium of Rs 13,000 over the LX trim.
