Nissan-X-trail-1

When: June 2016

How Much: Rs 32- 35 lakh

Engine: 2.0-litre MR20 DD petrol

Competition: Hyundai Santa Fe, Honda CR-V

Nissan all geared up to launch the current generation X-Trail SUV in India. The new Nissan X-Trail India, which debuted in the country at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo is expected to hit the roads in the second half of 2016. Nissan X-Trailis expected to be priced at around Rs 32-35 lakhs. The new X-Trail will come via the CBU route.

Nissan was expected to launch X-Trail in a diesel engine option earlier but the company will reportedly roll out a petrol hybrid version of the SUV in India. The India bound X-Trail Hybrid incorporates a 2.0-litre MR20 DD petrol engine that is coupled with 40.8PS electric motor, deliver a combined power output of 184.8PS and maximum torque of 360Nm. The engine will be mated to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox.

Design language will be inspired heavily from other global models of Nissan. Exterior styling will be plusher featuring a couple of new elements. The boxy and mundane design will be ditched for a curvier silhouette. Moreover, the SUV is likely to be leaner than before shedding off the heavy stance.

Comprehensive changes are expected to be made to the cabin donning a modish avatar unlike previous generation model which featured suave styling. The third generation X-Trail will get seven-seat layout allowing seven occupants to be seated inside.

On the safety front, it may get advanced assistance programs such as ABS with EBD along with vital attributes like seat belts, engine immobilizer and a few others. In terms of style and overall appearance, this machine looks striking with curvy edges all-round and quite different from its predecessors. Some of the highlights on the outside include the ‘V-Motion’ front radiator grille, alloy wheels on the sides and wraparound tail lamps in the rear end to name a few.

This SUV is likely to be introduced in both five and seven seating options, which may carry a dual zone climate control, three spoke steering wheel and many other such sophisticated elements.
