Honda Cars India is all set to unveil the new Honda City in New Delhi on Monday, November 25, 2013. The Japanese car manufacture has ceased production of the present-generation City which will soon be replaced by the new City (codename: 2CT).

Currently, Honda has been clear the existing inventory of the old City and dealers are offering also attractive discounts on the outgoing model. It is also learnt that Honda dealers have already started taking bookings for the new Honda City, however, deliveries are not expected until January 2014.

The fourth generation Honda City is based on the Jazz hatchback platform and will be locally assembled. The new Honda City is expected to have more design lines flowing on the exterior to make it more appealing for the C-segment customers and pose strong competition to the Hyundai Verna which has usurped the City from the numero uno spot.

The 1.5 litre i-VTEC engine which does duty on the outgoing City is likely to be carried over with some minor tweaks to improve power and efficiency, and the 1.5-litre i-DTEC powertrain that powers the Amaze, will be introduced in the new Honda city, hopefully with increased power output. With the popularity of diesel powered cars still on the upswing, the introduction of the diesel powertrain in the new Honda City will certainly help the Japanese carmaker rake in the numbers.

The new Jazz and later the compact Crossover / SUV that Honda has planned on the same platform, will follow the new City into the Indian car market.
