Volkswagen Cars in India
Volkswagen is a recent entry to the Indian car market, but history could have been otherwise. Volkswagen had been in talks with the Indian government to partner on the Maruti project, which was eventually won by Suzuki. Anyway, history aside, VW is now in India in a big way, and is here to stay. All its sub-brands have a growing presence in India as well, including Skoda, Audi, Lamborghini and Bentley and Porsche. The company manufactures the Polo and Vento at its sprawling facility at Talegaon, near Pune. It offers a number of other models, including the new Passat and Jetta sedans, and the Touareg SUV. No VW range could ever be complete without the iconic Bettle, and that car too is offered for sale here in India.
