New Hindustan Motors Ambassador Description

The Ambassador is manufactured by Indian car manufacturer Hindustan Motors. The 'Amby' as it is affectionately called, has been in production since 1958 with few improvements or changes and is based on the Morris Oxford III model, first made by the Morris Motors Limited at Cowley, Oxford in the United Kingdom from 1956 to 1959. When the Birlas wanted a new model to replace their already old Hindustan models based on Morris Oxford Series II (Hindustan Landmaster), they scouted for the then-new Morris Oxford Series III. The car initially came with a side-valve engine but was later improved to an overhead-valve engine. Also the car at that point was quite an innovation with a fully enclosed monocoque chassis, which is why it is spacious inside.

Ex-Showroom Price     Rs. 4.8 Lacs. - Rs. 5.3 Lacs.

Small yet spacious when it comes to fit and design. Easy maneuverability, parking. Fits 5 people including driver. The AC cools the entire car in under 10 minutes on a warm summer day. There is no smell. The radial tyres ensure comfortable rides

I am using this vehicle since my students days.Performance wise though it is not comparable to any of the new generation car but it has its own iconic value which is space, comfort, passenger & luggage carrying capacity for which no other car can beat it.Isuzu model has got its own drawback of not having efficient after sale service problem.

Ambassador --The best product of Hindustan Motors was perhaps the best luxury car before Maruti and Tata venturd into Automobile Industry. Still now it is first preferrence for many Government servants as well as common man. Even in Kolkata the TAXIs are run on Ambassador. Over the year it has lost its shine and glory but acceptance have not dwindled. The best part of the car is the comfort zone. Its seats are quite cosy and comfortable. Its also a fuel efficient car considering other cars on market. Though now a low profile but the pick up power is still comparable with modern car models But there are negative points also like Music System is not good and also AC is not up to the mark.

Delhi, winters of 1991 was the time we had a new member in our family..our beloved 'ambassador'. Though the car was a second hand drive, it was a pleasure to ride. We had this car when there existed no power windows, no ac's, no cd changers...but the wide spacious interiors, small rotating fan and that sound of the diesel engine gave us enough pleasure! Loved spending my sunday mornings with dad fine tuning the BEAST, and my act of the play was to press the accelerator whenever asked to without touching the 'Bus Wala Gear' (ya that's what i used to call it, i had never seen a family car having a gear handle this big!) Till date ambassador has been the best value for money car and the first choice to opt. for incase you are buying a second hand vehicle provided curves 'n chrome are not your first preferences! Build and power of this beast is incomparable.
