Ram Suresh Akella, Vice President, Sales, Maruti Suzuki flagging off the 8th edition of Dakshin Dare 2016


Maruti Suzuki India Limited flagged off the 8th edition of Dakshin Dare Rally, the annual Southern motorsport rally from Orion Mall, Bengaluru. The rally this year will be traversing through the scenic yet challenging route of Coorg, Murdeshwar and Shimoga concluding in Goa on August 6, 2016.


With over 190 motorsport enthusiasts in 110 teams, the rally will cover approximately 2200 kilometres over a span of six days. This year the rally will see 16 women compete for the coveted title. The rally is divided into three categories – Endurance, Ultimate Car and Ultimate Bike.


Commenting on the occasion, Ram Suresh Akella, Vice President, Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. said, “Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare was conceptualised to enhance the thrill of off-road rallying experience for motorsport enthusiasts in South India. The twists and turns in this area make it even more exciting for the participants especially with the slippery monsoon terrain. Pioneered in 2009, the rally aims to challenge motorsport enthusiasts to achieve greater milestones in their motorsport journey. The increasing participation each year encourages us to strengthen such motorsport events.”

Suresh Rana and Parminder Thakur Win Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare 2016

The journey of 2,200 kilometres traversing through scenic, undulating terrains of South India at the 8th edition of Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare concluded in a grand finale in Goa on Saturday. Suresh Rana and co-driver Parminder Thakur driving their Grand Vitara won the Ultimate Cars category and Ganesh Moorthy and T Nagarajan emerged victorious in the Endurance Cars category. T Natraj had a big-win in the Ultimate Bikes category covering the distance in his TVS Apache.

Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare Rally Reaches Shimoga

Traversing through muddy patches of Bengaluru and Coorg since its flag-off on Sunday, Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare has reached Shimoga the cultural capital of Karnataka. The cut throat competition between 190 rally loving motor enthusiasts on Day 2 concluded with the participants covering a total distance of 383 kilometres with 3 stages spread across 63 kilometres.
