Neeraj Banka, Director, Auto Trendz has been associated with the automobile industry since the last 15 years. He has been into sales and distribution of various car accessories brand like Garware, Autocop, JBL, Pioneer and many more. About three years back he got into a joint venture with Vinay Daga and formed the company Auto Trendz which represents CASKA in India. In a candid conversation with autojunction, he talks about CASKA’s E-car series and it's future in the Indian market.
AJ: Tell us more about the CASKA’s E-car series.
NB: The CASKA E-car series is based on 3G and is a unit that will take care of all multimedia needs in a more stylish way and a smart interface. This product is targeted at owners of hi-end cars and also to those who aspire to use iPods, iPhones, browse through television channels and also read books digitally, all within their comfort zone inside their vehicles. It will also provide a full touch screen navigation system with the latest and most advanced one India mapping. The system is based on the latest WINDOWS CE 6.0 and has a large enough RAM and memory to operate all the functions in an efficient manner. The CASKA E-car series products are also equipped with tyre pressure monitoring systems and intelligent parking assistance.
AJ: Where are these units manufactured?
NB: The E-car series is manufactured in CASKA's unit in China.
AJ: What is your view on the car accessories market in India and the slice of that pie that CASKA aspires to acquire?
NB: India is one of the most rapidly growing markets and happens to be the ninth largest in the world. The car infotainment industry is valued at Rs 500 crores plus and with this launch CASKA aims to gather 20 percent market share in the organised segment in India by end of December 2012. The initial response of CASKA in India has been very encouraging and it has witnessed 50 percent growth from the time it was launched in India.
AJ: What is the business volume that you are targeting for this current year?
NB: We hope to sell around 20000 units by December 2012. Thereafter, we are looking to grow by 30 percent annually. We are confident of achieving our sales target through our strong distribution network operating all across the country.
AJ: Tell us about your distribution network.
NB: The E-car series will be sold in India through a network of 30 distributors and over 300 dealers.
AJ: Will the E-car series be availble through OEM fitment?
NB: Yes, the product will also be available through OEM fitment in several eminent automobile brands.
AJ: When will the product hit the market and what will be the pocket pinch like?
NB: The product will be available in the market from June onwards. The price band will vary between Rs 31990 - 49990.
AJ: What are your expectations from this product?
NB: Globally, CASKA products have done extremely well. CASKA products has already witnessed a bullish growth rate since its introduction in India and we expect the E-car series to fare really well. We are already in process of tying up with companies like General Motors, Hyundai Motors for approving the CASKA range of products and are also developing products as per demand of the manufacturers after which it may even be suitable for inline fitment.
