The ‘best car in the world’ just got better. BMW-owned Rolls Royce has announced the first updates for the Phantom family since the model was launched almost a decade ago, in 2003. The new Phantom Series II gets some minor styling tweaks, notably to the bumpers and headlights.

The BMW Group has opened the world’s largest showroom for BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and BMW motorcycles in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The 35,000 sq mt showroom will employ 450 people, and display up to 70 vehicles at a time.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars today revealed record sales results for 2011. 3,538 cars were sold globally during the year, a 31 per cent increase on the 2010 total of 2,711 cars. The figure represents the best sales result in the company’s 107-year history; the previous record of 3,347 cars having been set in 1978 during the Silver Shadow II era.

Rolls Royce has launched the Ghost Extended Wheelbase in India. The stretched Ghost now provides rear seat passengers with nearly seven inches more of rear knee-room, in what was already a very spacious cabin. The Ghost Extended Wheelbase will be made to order, with prices starting from Rs 3.5 crore.
