The Invitation Concept is based on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s new V-platform. The V-platform is already capitalised for India, and the K9-series diesel engine is the perfect foil for this class of vehicle. It gives Renault a strong weapon in its armoury to take the battle to the Maruti Ertiga and Ford B-Max.

Nissan launched a unique brand building exercise in November last year, auditioning wannabe future Bollywood stars and giving them a chance to star in a short film featuring none other than Nissan brand ambassador Ranbir Kapoor. The Nissan Star of India campaign was run exclusively on Facebook, making it as interactive as possible, and enabling participation of an audience totalling millions.

Nissan will enter the Australian V8 Supercar Series from 2013 onwards, when the new rules for the Car Of the Future come into effect. Kelly Racing will field the Nissan cars, in a four-car team. The deal is expected to be finalised in Melbourne tomorrow. Team owners Rick and Todd Kelly will drive two of the cars, with four-time Bathurst winner Greg Murphy and Karl Reindler completing the line-up.

Daimler and Nissan will produce Mercedes-Benz 4-cylinder petrol engines together at Nissan’s powertrain assembly plant in Decherd, Tennessee. Production will begin in 2014, with installed capacity of 250,000 units per year once full ramp–up is achieved. The Decherd facility will produce engines for Mercedes-Benz and Infiniti models.
