Nissan will enter the Australian V8 Supercar Series from 2013 onwards, when the new rules for the Car Of the Future come into effect. Kelly Racing will field the Nissan cars, in a four-car team. The deal is expected to be finalised in Melbourne tomorrow. Daimler and Nissan will produce Mercedes-Benz 4-cylinder petrol engines together at Nissan’s powertrain assembly plant in Decherd, Tennessee. Production will begin in 2014, with installed capacity of 250,000 units per year once full ramp–up is achieved. The Decherd facility will produce engines for Mercedes-Benz and Infiniti models.
