Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, has started its New Year journey in style by registering a sales record of 737 cars in January 2013. This marked the luxury carmaker 10.5 percent growth year-on-year (January 2012: 667 cars).

Audi has started production of the Q7 SUV at its Aurangabad plant in Maharashtra. Up to 1,000 units of the Audi Q7 will be built here annually to be supplied in the Indian market.

During the first half of this current year (January-June), Audi has managed to find 4000 customers for its vehicles in the domestic arena, thus registering a growth of 43 percent over the corresponding period last year when it delivered 2802 units. In June alone this fastest growing luxury car brand in India has managed to sell 718 cars vs. 408 cars in the same month last year (a sharp rise of 76 percent).

In the just concluded month of May, it has sold 450 cars, a year-on-Year rise of 10 percent, comparing May, 2011, when it found 408 customers. The brand recorded a healthy 37 percent growth during the first five months this year (January--May), registering 3281 units in the sales counts, comparing to 2394 vehicles delivered during the same period previous year.
