- Tata Motors Joins Hands with DRB-HICOM Defence Technologies to Deliver Heavy Duty Military Trucks

India's leading automobile company Tata Motors and DRB-HICOM Defence Technologies Sdn Bhd (DEFTECH), a wholly-owned subsidiary of DRB-HICOM Berhad, Malaysia, have signed a futuristic cooperation agreement to aid the Malaysian defence forces. It will empower both DEFTECH and Tata Motors to develop, promote and market Tata Motors’ super mobility 4x4 trucks with payloads range of 2.5-5.0 tonnes.
In the early stage, DEFTECH will concentrate upon a couple two of Tata’s proven truck models, LPTA 715 and LPTA 1623. These heavy-duty vehicles can be suitably moulded in various configurations and perfectly fit into different normal and challenging situations, such as acting as troop carrier, command post, ambulance, reconnaissance missions, armoured carrier communication shelter and many more.
It is to be noted that Tata Motors has been associated with the country’s renowned off-road defence and security forces for more than five decades, since 1958 and has already delivered in excess of 1, 00,000 vehicles to the Indian military and paramilitary forces. Tata’s motor wing not only fulfils domestic market demands with its best-quality products but also has the calibre to satisfy the challenging requirements of international clients. Tata Motors supplies its comprehensive range of specialised defence vehicles to international organizations and countries such as the SAARC and ASEAN besides several African regions.
Tata Motors’ has already proved its mettle in multi-axle range like 12x12, 8x8 & 6x6. Now, it has also started to strengthen its base as leading supplier of the Missile OEMs across the world. This Indian automobile company has also bagged some prestigious international projects, including supplying specialist vehicles for UN peacekeeping missions. Tata Motors range of off-road vehicles also enjoy high demand from the international agencies, associated with AID & Development, across the world like GSA, KBR, Oxfam, RONCO, RA International & Riders.
