Nissan Motor India Private Ltd (NMIPL) reported a 44 per cent increase in its sales for the month of December 2011 as compared to the sales for the same period previous year. It reported sales of 1,596 units for the month of December 2011 as against 1,104 nos. for December 2010.
Nissan Micra, the compact hatchback recorded sales of 1,036 units in December 2011. Sunny sedan accounted for 533 units which include 27 units of the diesel variant that was launched last month. The X-TRAIL, Teana and 370Z sports car constitute the remaining sales.
G.M. Singh, Vice Chairman & MD, Hover Automotive India (HAI), Nissan’s sales and marketing partner in India, said: “The recent sales performance augurs well for Nissan as a brand in India and it only reinforces our belief that Nissan’s products are being well accepted by our customers. The coming year is crucial as we get to contribute to the growing Indian auto sector.”
Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. said: “With the launch of the Sunny diesel variant, we are on track to achieve the targeted sales performance despite the difficult market conditions in India. The Sunny diesel will further boost our continued growth in India and together with our entire product range, we are confident of accelerating our progress in the Indian market.”
Sunny’s diesel variant is available through Nissan’s 49 dealerships nationwide, priced at Rs 7, 98,000 (XL) and Rs 8, 78,000 (XV), ex-showroom, New Delhi.
