new chevrolet captiva

The new Chevrolet Captiva, displayed for the first time at the New Delhi Auto Expo in January, will cost substantially more than the present model, autojunction.in has learned from sources.

The new face-lifted Captiva could be as much as 20 % more expensive than the existing model, which means a price hike of more than Rs 4 lakh, taking the ex-showroom price of the new model to Rs 25 lakh plus. This is because the new SUV has been substantially revised, with a new 2.2-litre engine replacing the present 2.0-litre diesel engine. Also, it will be fully-imported as a CBU. The new engine produces much more power, 185 PS, which is a 35 PS jump on the existing model. Also, the new Captiva will only be available with four-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox as standard.

General Motors India is likely to continue with the existing model as well, in two variants. One will be the front-wheel drive version with a manual gearbox, while the 4WD Automatic will also continue to be offered. GM might look at dropping prices of this version to sweeten the deal.
