Mihir Dharkar Leads The Championship Standings At Volkswagen Polo R Cup

After two rounds and four races of Polo R Cup 2012, Mihir Dharkar from Mumbai emerged as the leader in the Championship standings with 77 points. Ameya Walavalkar with just 1 point behind and with a total of 76 points is ranked second. A. Sandeep Kumar (Chennai), Avdumber Hede (Goa) and Rahil Noorani (Mumbai) are placed third, fourth and fifth with 73, 71 and 67 points respectively.

Ameya took pole position for Race One of Round Two of JK Tyre Volkswagen Polo R Cup 2012 at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore with the quickest time of 1:14:692 seconds and was joined on the front row with Sandeep, who clocked 0.343 seconds behind the leader. Ameya managed to take the lead and stayed ahead till the chequered flag, comfortably ahead of Rahil and Mihir.

Race Two saw Diego Duez, who was on pole, lead from start to finish before being handed a 20 seconds penalty for jumping the start. This gave second placed finisher, Donovan Vaz, his first podium and win in the Polo R Cup championship with Sandeep and Ameya behind him.

It is a close championship with only 10 points difference between the leader, Mihir and Donovan Vaz who is at the sixth position at the end of Round Two. Round Three will see the action unfolding at the Madras Motor Sports Club in Chennai on August 25 and 26, 2012.
