Audi R18 e-tron: quattro and diesel-electric hybrid for the race track

Audi has developed the R18 e-tron quattro, with which it plans to contest the new FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The R18 e-tron quattro is developed on the existing R18 racing prototype, with the main difference being the addition of a flywheel-type kinetic energy recovery system.

Audi's R18 Le Mans challenger will use full LED lights. Audi has been a pioneer in LED lighting technology. The A8 was the first Audi to use LEDs for the daytime runing lights. Later, the R8 sportscar was the first road car to have full LED lights.
