Tarun-Reddy-MRF-F1600

L to R : Advait Deodhar, Tarun Reddy, Lee Keshav, and Rahul Mammen of MRF

Tarun Reddy took a 23 point lead in the MRF FF1600 Championship with 3 consecutive wins at Round 4 of the 2014 MMSC-FMSCI National Racing Championship (NRC).

After qualifying on pole position for the 4th race weekend in a row in the MRF FF 1600 category, Tarun had a good start with Advait and Vikash Anand battling behind him. Vikash got Advait into the 1st corner but damaged his front wing which severely impacted his race. Tarun pulled a lead of 3 seconds in the 1st lap with Advait getting stuck behind an ailing Vikash. Advait finally found his way past on lap 4 and set out after Tarun. Vikash meanwhile dropped back and had to contend with Lee Keshav. Lee tried to overtake Vikash into C2 on lap 8, sending both of them into a spin and promoting Kartik Tharani Singh upto 3rd position. Tarun comfortably won ahead of Advait and Kartik.

In Race 2 of the MRF FF1600 pole sitter Lee Keshav took the lead with a fast starting Tarun Reddy and Vikash Anand right behind him. Vikash starting from 10th on the grid moved up to 3rd place by the end of lap 1 but was later given a penalty for jumping the start. Tarun took the lead on lap 2 and did his customary pulling away from the rest of the pack with Advait Deodhar once again giving chase. The battle for 3rd position was once again a 3-way affair with Vikash battling Lee Keshav and Kartik Tharani Singh. Tarun crossed the line to complete yet another victory in the MRF FF1600 category. Advait finished in 2nd position with Lee Keshav taking the final step of the podium.

In Race 3 of the MRF FF1600, Tarun started on pole position and pulled away at the start. Advait also had a great start and stayed with Tarun for the first 5 laps but was unable to challenge. Vikash Anand got a 5 place grid penalty from a race 2 infringement and started in 6th place. He had a great start and was up to 3rd position after overtaking Kartik Tharani and Siddharth Trivellore. Tarun crossed the line to make it a perfect weekend with Advait getting his third consecutive runner up position. Vikash did well to take the final step of the podium.

In the other races held over the weekend, Ajay Kini sealed the LGB Formula 1300 title with 3 wins. VJ Senthil continued his brilliant run and took over the championship lead in the Indian Junior Touring Car category while Arjun Narendran won his 2nd race of the weekend in the Indian Touring Car category.
